As was advised in the February Octagon magazine, a Night Sky Tour at the Perth Observatory in Bickley has been organised to follow the annual Twilight Run, to be held on Sunday 18th February.
Enjoy a scenic drive through the hills to end at the Observatory around 6:30pm for a BYO picnic/BBQ dinner there, followed by the Night Sky Tour at 8:30pm (for those who booked and paid in advance) which is conducted by an Observatory volunteer and takes 1 ½ to 2 hours. The moon will be around a third full on that date and therefore highly visible on a clear night. If you have ever wished to see the mountains of the moon or the rings of Saturn, this is your opportunity!
Details of the Perth Observatory and the Night Sky Tour are given on the Observatory’s website at https://www.perthobservatory.com.au/shop/night-tours/night-sky-tours.
